Mysterious silence of Forest deptt over fake degree issue 5/20/2016 12:20:32 AM Avinash Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, May 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Forest department's mysterious silence over fake degree issues, has raised many eyebrows and the department's new order of seeking objections over seniority list, is seen as an effort to divert attention and shield the culprits, who have strong association with some officers. It has been alleged that over 150 Foresters got promoted as Rangers on the basis degrees from unrecognized institute or universities. Sources in department told Early Times that instead of scrutinize 'fake' degrees produced by officials to get promotion, the forest department, in attempt to divert the attention stake holders, has sought objection on seniority lists Foresters. "In supersession of all previous seniority lists of foresters (Non KFC/ KFC Trained) without any prejudice to the final outcome of any Writ Petitions pending before the Hon'ble High Court (s), the revised Tentative Seniority List of Foresters of Forest Department (Territorial) prepared on the basis of service record provided by their respective Chief Conservators of Forests", circular No. 3 of 2016 read. The circular further read that Any person having objection, if any, against his seniority shall file his/ her objections duly supported by the documentary evidence within a period of 15 days through proper channel. "The dates of birth recorded against the officials are provisional and are always subject to verification with the original Matriculation Certificate/ Service book. The category shown against the name of officials is also subject to verification and renewal by the competent issuing authority", the circular read. Disappointed over department's silence, officers, alleged that the circular is nothing but an effort to divert attention of government from real issue. The matter of fake degrees has repeatedly been brought into notice of higher ups of the department by various means, but no use. "It is (fake degree) depriving us from promotions", said an officer, adding that the fake degree holders, are unable to do paper works, but under patronage of higher ups they are enjoying prize posting.
