Jammu, May 21: 1st J&K Medical Science Congress concluded today on a high note. This was the first successful congregation of eminent medical professionals who had gathered from all over the country deliberate on the topics of common interest. Dr. B. Srinath, Director Asian Institute of Fetal Medicine Osmania University, Hyderabad. He spoke of the diagnostic role of fetal medicine in obstetrics practice. This was followed by a lecture by Dr. K. L Gupta, Professor and Head Department of Nephrology, PGI Chandigarh. He deliberated on Lupus Nephritis. The other eminent speakers who participated in the Science Congress were Dr. Anil Jain, Professor and Head Orthopedics, UCMS Delhi, Dr. Achal Gulati, Director/Principal Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College, New Delhi. They spoke about Tubercular Spine and Sleep Obstructive Apnea Syndrome, respectively. Dr. (Col) Alok Sharma, Professor and Head Plastic Surgery, INS Ashwani, Mumbai, who gave a very illusive presentation about hand injuries and its management. Dr. M. C. Mishra, Director All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, delivered a lecture on an epidemic of the 21st Century, Trauma and Its Care. He gave both the national as well as the international perspective aspect of Trauma Care. Dr. Shakti Gupta, Medical Superintendant and Professor and Head, Hospital Administration, AIIMS New Delhi, Talked about Smart Hospitals - GenNext Health Care. In the poster section, Dr. Anam Khursheed (Department of Pathology, ASCOMS) bagged first prize. Dr. Archana Tikko (Department of Physiology, Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana) bagged the second and the third prize went to Dr. Kunal Sharma (Department of Anesthesia, ASCOMS). The end of the congress was marked by a valedictory function where Director/Principal ASCOMS was the chief guest, and the function was presided over by Dr. Annil Mahajan, member Executive Council - Medical Council of India and Professor and Head Department of Medicine, GMC Jammu. During the deliberation of the valedictory ceremony, prizes were given to the respective winners and the organizing committee was felicitated by the guests. The congress ended with a resolution that such informative and educational activities cutting across the lines of specialties be organized at more frequent intervals. In the valedictory address Director/Principal ASCOMS and Hospital, thanked Science Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu and Kashmir for taking this intiative for organizing this Medical Science Congress jointly with Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Jammu. |
