Early Times Report

Sunderbani, May 21: Conspicuous seems the culture with Revenue Department in District Rajouri and Tehsil Sunderbani as all officers of different ranks in the department have either abandoned their authorized duties or are seen making hay in private while looting the gullible clientele.
The new trend having come in the tehsil Sunderbani is that the revenue officials of the ranks of Patwaris have got rooms rented at a far off places from the tehsil headquarters Sunderbani and have started their "private Practice ' to fleece the hapless clients in their honey traps.
"Not less than a Rs 500 note can get the copy of the land record from the concerned Patwari who barefacedly demands the amount and then ask the client to wait for days ," said one the victim in the tehsil who had to run pillar to post to get his land copy retrieved from the Patwari's makeshift office.
The irony also includes that the concerned Tehsildar too is missing from the tehsil. There is only an in-charge tehsildar who shies away from taking any responsibility to get the works done of the people expressing a pretext that he is executing his duties as in-charge tehsildar only.
"The entire revenue department is in mess and the hapless people are left with no other option, but remain awestruck for their works not being done in the manner," said another landowner from the tehsil.
The people of the area allege that since the revenue department in the tehsil is not in the functional mode, the concerned patwaris of different areas have made a makeshift arrangements at a little far-off place from the tehsil headquarters where they have stashed the entire records of the lands pertaining to different people and are executing the private practice to make extra bucks.
Given this situation in Tehsil Sunderbani, the hapless people when approach the District Commissioner , he too has embarked upon a modus operandi to either cut off the calls of the people or keep on their telephone numbers in the blacklist.
"The DC too does not picks up the call. Where should we list our grievances," said Chuni Lal of Tehsil Sunderbani who has been waiting since months to get his land records rectified in the tehsil.
They also allege that Revenue Minister too is a inaccsible as approaching a minister individually does not works and there is remote possibility that a group of victimized people may come under a single canopy to put up a memorandum to the minister as all are either busy in tending their fields or are doing daily labour to earn daily bread for the families. The people however through this reporter have appealed the vigilance commission to take the cognizance of the irregularity in the revenue office ,Sunderbani and also asked the minister concerned to do the needful to help the people relieved of their grievances.
