Sensitization Workshop organised at GCW, Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, May 24: A Sensitization Workshop on Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K organized by Higher Education Department, J&K Govt. was held in GCW, Gandhi Nagar. Resource Persons on the occasion were Prof. Alok Prakash and Mr. Anand Sharma, Deputy Director AICTE. The programme began with the lighting of lamp followed by welcome address by Principal of the College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi. Prof. Mittal, apprised the audience of the benefits of this scheme which gives opportunity to the J&K students hailing from Copied from Jammu Links News every nook and corner to study outside. Mr. Anand Sharma made a power-point presentation to point out the mission, vision, objective, eligibility, reservation, distribution of scholarship, scope, selection procedure, duration of scholarship its renewal, implementation and monitoring. The workshop was attended by the Principals of the Degree Colleges of Jammu, Samba, Reasi and Udhampur Districts alongwith the team of faculty members/Assistant where the facilitation centres have been established to help the aspiring students. The Principals of Higher Secondary Schools of these Districts also attended the workshop to disseminate the salient features of the scheme to the students in respective schools.
Various modalities of this scheme were discussed and stakeholders also interacted and clarified their doubts. Students were made aware of the Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme regarding Engineering, Medical Education and General Degree Courses.
They were also made aware of the website portal http://aicte-jk-scholarship-gov.in on which details on all aspects of the scheme are given including list of all colleges/courses in which students can apply and requested them to apply online. Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ajeet Angral, Nodal Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu.
The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by Dr. Revika Arora and Prof. Neelam Thapa.
