Jammu, May 24: To explain their conduct in the investigation of a case involving Asaram's Bhagwati Nagar ashram and for not deputing officers despite a senior police officer's sanction in this regard, high court judge Tashi Rabstan today directed SSP, Jammu, to file an affidavit by or before next date of hearing. The court took a serious note of police functioning and observed that the Jammu range DIG vide his April 21, 2016 communication accorded sanction for sending police personnel to Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and MP in connection with the investigation of case FIR No 168/2013 registered under sections 153-A, 195, 295, 295-A, 211, 383, 195-A, 194 and 120-B of RPC of Nowabad police station. In the status report filed by respondents on May 4, 2016, it was stated that a team would be deputed shortly after getting administrative approval. Justice Rabstan said the court was surprised that despite sanction order what further approval was required. "Therefore, the conduct of respondents in dealing this case is nothing, but to delay the investigation," he observed. To explain the delay for not deputing the officers despite sanction obtained on April 21 last, the court directed SSP, Jammu, to file an affidavit by or before next date. (JNF) |
