HANDWARA, May 25: A 26-year-old youth, who was working as a porter with army, was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in Handwara forests. Sources said panic this morning gripped Waderballa Payeen area of Handwara after the bullet-riddled body of the porter was recovered from the village forests. Some gunshots were also heard by locals from the forest area, the sources added. Sources identified the dead as Liyaqat Hussain. He was missing from the past one day. He was working for Army's 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) as a porter. He was the only earning hand in his family and has left behind a one and a half year old son and a pregnant wife. However, a senior police officer said Liyaqat was believed to have been shot dead by militants. "Police have registered a case and started investigations to nab the culprits," sources said.
