From the day NDA government at Delhi and BJP-PDP coalition government In Jammu and Kashmir took the riens of governments in their hands state of Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing a rain of national level professional, medical, engineering, management and other carrier oriented institution.It is, perhaps, for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kasmir when people friendly NDA government has opened the flood gates for progress and development of Jammu and Kashmir. Now it becomes the moral duty of the state government to select the sites, especially for the medical institutions, judiciously and without any political prejudice and partiality so that no region of the state gets neglected in the field of medical facities. It is learnt that the sites for the prestigious institute AIIMS and that for GMC are selected at Vijaypur and Kathua whichj is a laudable effort of the state government, but the long neglected people living in hilly and inaccesible terrains ofBasohli Billawer and Bani tehsilsof Kathua district and those living in the scatrerd habitats of Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar district have got some reservation regarding the decision which needs to be reviewd before taking the final decision which will be in the favour of the deserving population.
1. The sites for AIIMS and GMS at Vijaypur and Kathua are situated on the same 60 Kmts. long National highway No. 1. Which can cater to the needs of the people living in the plans of Kathua, Samba, Jammu and Udhampur. The maximum motorable journey from any town or village of these districts and the hospitals at Jammu, AIIMS at Vijaypur and proposed GMS at Kathua doesn't exceed three hours.
2. The most deserving hilly terrains of Bani, Basohli,Billawer, distrct Doda, Baderwah and Kishtwar are totally neglected in the case of establishing one GMC at a place, in district Kathua, which can easily cater to the health needs of these hilly areas.
It is therefore prayed that the one GMC for district Kathua be established at Bsohli because,
1. After the inauguration of the Atal Setu at river Ravi the Kathua, Doda districts, Bhadrrwah and Kishtwar of Jammu province Chamba, Kangra districts of Himachal Pardesh and Pathankot, Gurdasspur of Punjab have converged at Basohli.
2. Basohli is situated at the geometrical centre of seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pardesh and Punjab and is easily accessible to Bani, Basohli, Billawer, Bhaderwah, Kishatwar. Basohli is the nearest destination for the population of neighbouring districts of Himachal Pardesh, Punjab.
3. As compared to the distance of these places the people of hilly terrain will prefer going to AIIMS Delhi or PGI Chandigarh to going to Vijaypur Jammu or Kathua. Basohli is an ideal place for GMC as regards the environment of the place is concerend which is also congenial for sanitoriums also.
It is therefor humbly requested that before making the final choice for GMC for district Kathua a team of the experts be sent to Basohli for taking stock of the possibilities of GMC at Basohli. GMC at Basohli will be a great service to the people living in the three neighbouring states. |
