HC directive in youth's killing in police firing

Jammu, May 25: High court judge B S Walia today directed SIT of police to record statements of witnesses in the killing of a youth in police firing at Satwari here.
The court directive came in a petition, seeking a CBI probe into the incident and ex-gratia relief of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased Jasjit Singh.
After hearing counsel for the petitioners, Justice Walia directed SIT to record the statements of witnesses through the concerned police station.
The AAG was also asked to produce on the next date of hearing the record to show the dates for the preceding one year during which attempts were made to record the statements of witnesses and what action was taken in the case of non-availablity of eye witnesses. (JNF)
