Medical Superintendent at DH Shopian removed, attached

Anantnag, May 27: Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Shopian was on Thursday removed after he failed to run hospital smoothly. Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Ghulam Ahmad Dar confirmed to Early Times that the Medical Superintendent, Dr Muneer Ahmad was removed fallowing the complaints of mismanagement. "He failed to manage the hospital administration and apparently all wasn't well there," he said, adding an order was issued in this regard and officer was attached till further orders. However, deputy commissioner clarified that attachment of Medical Superintend has nothing to do with enquiry that is going into the death of pregnant lady due to alleged medical negligence. "Those who be found at fault will be punished, I have asked the enquiry committee to submit the report stipulated time," he added. As reported earlier, a pregnant woman died at hospital allegedly due to the sudden power breakdown in the hospital that resulted into her huge blood loss Shafeeqa wife of Sabeel Ahmad was admitted in the hospital on Friday, the date given to her by the doctors for surgery. After all the necessary tests conducted on woman doctors agreed to conduct surgery on her. "As the surgery was on there was a sudden power breakdown in the hospital. The doctor who was conducting surgery repeatedly called the electrician for about ten minutes for starting generator but he did not attend his phone. "When the electrician arrived, doctor who had somehow managed to finish the surgery scolded him and even abused him for not responding to his call," brother in law of the deceased woman had told Early Times.
According to family, two even entered into a verbal duel during which the electrician told him that he is not supposed to start the generator only on the directions of every official posted in the hospital.
DC has ordered inquiry into the incident and had asked enquiry committee to submit a factual report within three days. Additional Deputy Commissioner is heading a four member enquiry committee.
