It is an apt festive gift that the state Government has lifted ban on Short Messaging Services and the BSNL has become first cellular service provider to restore services nearly five months after they were suspended on August 4.

With the poll process already over and Amarnath land row no longer an issue, people wishing that the authorities concerned lift the ban on SMS before the New Year have been finally listened to. “We have restored the services immediately after getting order from the Home Department of the Government”, said AK Mittal, General Manager BSNL. Other cellular operators were yet to respond till filing this report.
It needs to be mentioned that After the Amaranth agitation and subsequent pro-freedom mass protests, the state government this July banned the circulation of SMS citing the move was nece... | |
