Coalition’s job ticket locked in name row, cabinet meeting again today
12/5/2009 1:27:52 AM
ZAFAR CHOUDHARY Jammu, Dec 4: The big ticket employment programme of the National Conference and Congress coalition government is all set to be unveiled as per the promise but the name seems to be running into trouble. A meeting of the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here today had to be called midway after members from the Congress expressed the reservations on the name of the employment scheme which was to be announced by the Chief Minister tomorrow. In hectic and apparently nervous schedule of the events listed for Saturday the Cabinet is once again meeting in the afternoon to settle down the name row. In his budget speech in August, the Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather had deferred announcement on employment package and instead said that the same will be unveiled on December 5, the birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. He had said that the employment programme shall be known as Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for the Youth. There were no immediate reactions from the coalition partner Congress to the proposed name and propo...

AHMED ALI FAYYAZ SRINAGAR, Dec 4: Senior separatist leader and a member of the Executive Committee of Hurriyat Conference (Mirwaiz faction), Fazal Haq Qureshi, today became the first casualty of the cacophony of ‘quiet diplomacy’ and secret dialogue between the Kashmiri secessionists and Government of India when a guman in ambush pumped pistol shots into his head while returning to home after performing the evening prayers at a mosque in Soura outskirts of this capital city. Doctors at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura passed the nearly dead Qureshi through a surgical procedure but maintained that he was “very unlikely to recover”. ABID SHAH NEW DELHI, DEC 4: Today’s incident of shooting at Srinagar is bound to give headache to the Union Home Ministry. Throughout the evening there was no reaction from the Ministry about the incident in which a senior Hurriyat leader was shot at and critically wounded in the summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Yet indications are that the security net around separatist brigade would tighten in the days to come. It seems that the task of issuing initial response to the attack on Fazal Haque Qureshi has been left by the Central Government to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He has indicated that the peace nicks in Hurriyat bandwagon face real threat of life. Strangely, this is ofte...

Result of which one thousand liters were surrendered during the month of October onwards, even after about 1111 kerosene licenses were cancelled three years ago.
