JAMMU: Apr 13: In what could be described as "some relief" to the state government, Civil Secretariat (Non-Gazetted) Employees' today called off their nine-day-old strike on an assurance by the State Government that their demands would be met in next three months amicably.
"Taking into consideration the appeal made by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah the coordination committee of the employees has decided to call off its strike and 4000 employees who were on strike would resume duties from April 15," Nazir Ahmed Mir, president of Civil Secretariat Employees Union told reporters at a hurriedly called press conference at the residence of Devender Rana, political advisor to Chief Minister this evening.
"The government has assured us that our demands would be met within three months, and we believe that it is a genuine promise," the president said, adding "in view of the difficulties faced by the people, we are calling off the strike."

| 2 teenagers killed, 4 hurt in blast | | | | JAMMU: Two teenagers were killed and four others wounded critically in a powerful mysterious blast in the border Jabdi Bicheldara Keran area of Kupwara in Kashmir Monday evening.
The incident occured near the Line of Control yestersay evening, police sources said.
In the blast, Adil (12) and Feroz (9) were killed on the spot, while four others, who were in the close vicinity of the explosion site, survived with critical injuries. The injured were hospitalised.
When contacted, Kupwara police said they did not have details of the incident.
