The secessionat drive in Jammu and Kashmir is going to take "a new turn in due course", warns a classified document. As the drive "continues to be aided and abetted by foreign Muslim extremists", the possibility of an early end to the secessionist expression and activity in Kashmir "should be ruled out", says the document.

The government notified eight tax return forms for the income year 2006-07 and assessment year 2007-08.
This will be the first time when a salaried person can file his tax return without the Form 16, which he gets from his employer for paying taxes in advance during the year itself. An assesses need not submit any TDS (tax deducted at source) certificate along with the form.
All the forms, except ITR 7, that are notified, have been designed as annexure-less. This has been done to enable one to file the return on-line.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh might be hoping for a big leap forward in agriculture, but finance minister P Chidambaram poured cold water over proposals for additional funding by pointing out that the fertiliser subsidy Bill for the current year had already touched Rs 50,000 crore.
With the subsidy Bill growing from year to year, where would the additional funds to be transferred to the states by way of assistance come from, Chidambaram asked at the meeting of the Planning Commission on Monday. The Union Minister of State for Home, Sriprakash Jaiswal informed Rajya Sabha today that as per the reports of the Jammu and Kashmir Government, there has been a progressive decline in terrorist related violence over the years. He said that while 2565 terrorist related violent incidents took place in the Year 2004, 1990 such incidents took place in Year 2005 and 1667 incidents in the Year 2006.
