New Delhi, Aug 12: Amid uproar in Parliament over the issue of violence in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar town, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley of the BJP on Monday hit out at the state government.
Speaking during a discussion in the Upper House on the matter, Jaitley - who was yesterday stopped at Jammu airport from visiting Kishtwar where communal violence since Friday claimed three lives - said, "Jammu and Kashmir is not the private property of one family. Even media has kept a stunning silence. It requires investigation." Jaitley, who was indirectly referring to the Abdullah family, added that "it was only after 6 to 7 hours that the Army was actually called in; till then there was murder and mayhem in Kishtwar."
"You are putting in place a system in J&K like in the 1990s… as if anybody going there only has the intention of causing disturbance," he said further.
An angry Farooq Abdullah responded to Jaitley's charges, saying, "In 2002, Gujarat did not allow people to enter Ahmedaba...

| | | | 7 steps to climb up career ladder for all backdoor entrants in J&K? | | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12: Going by the recent, rather ugly, happenings in the Principal Resident Commissioner's (PRC) office in New Delhi, it is time we compiled a simple 7-step guide for all backdoor entrants (that our state abounds in) to help them not only survive but thrive and flourish with impunity.
1. Flaunt your lineage: Because you are nobody, with no qualifications, expertise or experience to talk of, keep on talking of the "greatness" of your father, father-in-law or whosoever got you in government service. It should work most of the time in the colonial mindset of "mai-baap" that most of us suffer from.
2. Get a Godfather: Because your lineage may not be able to sa...

JAMMU, Aug 12: The gory and highly deplorable August 9 Kishtwar incident, which has been condemned by one and all and evoked sharp reaction not only in Jammu province but also across the country, was an ordinary incident. It reminds one of the situation that prevailed in Kashmir in early 1990, when one minority community migrated from the Valley almost wholesale and hundreds of families belonging to another minority community left their homes and hearts in Kashmir and migrated to Jammu and Punjab.
That the incident has outraged the people of Jammu province and other parts of the country could be seen from what has been happening in the entire Jammu province sin...
