Goswami panel to examine ‘serious cases’

Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 2 Jammu: 226 Samba: 48 Kathua: 47 Bhaderwah: 5 Udhampur: 23 Ramban: 02 Doda: 46 Reasi: 78 Poonch: NA Rajouri: NA In its final negotiations with the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti on an array of issues –besides the core issue of land –the Government had agreed to drop minor cases pending against agitators and examine those serious in nature. However, compilation of data from 10 districts of Jammu region reveals that examining cases on their individual merit may be an uphill task as more than 700 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged over past two months in different police stations of the region. The ‘Charter of Demands’ presented by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti before the four-member official panel headed by Governor’s Advisor Dr Sudhir Singh Bloeria had, among other things, asked for dropping cases against agitators booked under various Police Stations. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 2 New CJ Justice Sarin being sworn in Thursday After a lag of nearly three months the lawyers today resumed their work at the Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Under the banner of Bar Association Jammu, the lawyers had been playing a lead role on the Amarnath Shrine land agitation which culminated on August 31 at a note of victory. Bar members today resumed work after about three months. The advocates today appeared in all the Courts including High Court Jammu Wing, District Courts and Tribunals.
