EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 29: After keeping away from the Winter Capital City when his name was the hate symbol of agitation and several hundreds of his effigies were sent up in smoke, the National Conference president Omar Abdullah today arrived to a tumultuous welcome to the town. The road from airport to the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan was painted red with National Conference flags as Omar was taken into an enthusiastic procession to the party headquarters where he addressed the workers. This was in sharp contrast to August 2 situation when his father and party patron Dr Farooq Abdullah remained holes up inside airport for four years as agitated people of Jammu did not allow him to move out. While addressing a convention of party workers, Omar Abdullah said that his party was instrumental in getting the Amarnath land row resolved. “We played a lead role in helping the Government of India to resolve Amarnath land controversy to bring normalcy in the region”, said Omar. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 29: Militants leaders was dealt with severe blow this year as the Jammu and Kashmir Police in various joint operations with Army and other paramilitary forces has killed 16 top commander –foreigners and locals –of various outfits since January this year. This was revealed by the Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda during his meetings with Police cadres in Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts today. EARLY TIMES REPORT BHADERWAH, Sept 29: In yet other gruesome accident on Doda roads, six persons have been reported killed and 25 injured as a bus rolled down to a gorge off Bhaderwah early this morning. Official reports said that six persons were killed, 25 injured, 12 of them seriously, when a Karan travel bus No. JK02R-8947 bound for Jammu from Bhaderwah rolled down in Neru nallah at Malnie near Bhalla at 7.50 a.m. today. The persons who were died on the spot included Const. Dvr. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 29: Following delayed entrance, the Board of Professional Entrance Examination had declared the selection list of candidates selected for various professional courses including MBBS, BDS, Veterinary Sciences and Engineering. The list reflects a tough competition among the students as names of dozens of successful students are tied up between two to three numbers. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 29: As the nine day festival of holy Navratra begins tomorrow, the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine nestled in Trikuta Hills is all set for a massive rush of pilgrims and the much awaited annual festivity. Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the festival that ends Oct 8 will be held at the shrine and its base camp at Katra. Around 30,000 to 40,000 pilgrims are expected to converge at the shrine daily during the festive season.
