| Heavy snowfall disrupts normal life in Chenab valley | | | early times report
Kishtwar, Dec 14: After witnessing rains for couple of days, both plains and upper reaches of Chenab valley including, Kishtwar, Doda, tourist resort Bhaderwah, Ramban and Banihal witness heavy snowfall since last midnight. Due to heavy snowfall in major townships of Chenab valley, the normal life comes to stand still.
The electric supply in many parts also remains suspended due to continuous snowfall and frequent faults in transmission lines. Like earlier, large number of people was seen standing for hours outside Kerosene Oil depots that shows improvement after media reports pertaining to black marketing of Kerosene Oil comes to the fore as a result of which district administration swung into action and made the Kerosene oil available for the general masses. ADC Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan along with Tehsildar Kishtwar monitored the distribution of Kerosene Oil and LPG, beside took stock of various essential commodities.
District administration along with police has established a joint control room to monitor the hourly situation arises due to continuous snowfall in the area. Similar steps were also taken by the district administration in Doda. As per officials of District Administration Kishtwar, areas like Marwah, Warwan, Suncham, Machail and its peripherals areas witnesses 1-2 feet of snowfall. Kishtwar town witnesses nearly 8 inch snow since last night while Bhaderwah town of Doda District also witnesses nearly 1 feet snow. Due to continuous snowfall, Traffic on Kishtwar-Jam-mu national highway remained suspended due to heavy snowfall at Patnitop.
