| Villagers resent ill implementation of RGGVY | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) scheme to electrify all the villages is implemented as per the whims and fancies of concerned Power Development Department (PDD) employees in Sedow area of Shopian. According to villagers, two big Mohallas of Sedow, Patitulihalan and Khan Mohalla comprise more than 110 households and some Gujjar tribes and the concerned PDD employees have planned to provide 125 k.v transformer which is insufficient for the people living in these mohallas. "According to the canons of this scheme, they deserve four such transformers to meet the requirement of people, however, concerned PDD employees are snatching our share and are giving it to the high profile people of other side of the village", the residents complain. "Despite arguments and providing exact figures of population to the concerned PDD employees nobody cares for us and were asked to meet chief Minister for such requirement", says Abdul Rashid Lone, an elderly villager. Accepting 125 k.v as insufficient for more than 110 households, concerned Assistant executive engineer Mohd Akbar Lone said that we are providing electricity to the area as per the population figures of 2004 census. He added that providing 125 k.v transformer is sufficient for only 80 households, however, they are working as per the already guidelines issued in this regard. Expressing unawareness of the matter Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohd Javaid Khan said that he will keenly look in to the matter and the same will be solved soon. |
