| "If coalition is compulsion for NC, they should pull out" | | Congress has other options to form Govt: Lal | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Describing Congress the country's largest political party, senior Congress leader and MoS Cooperatives, Industries, Commerce and Planning, Manohar Lal said that Congress had options other than the National Conference to remain in power in the State. "There is no question of any compulsion to form the Government with National Conference (NC). Congress has other options available to remain in the power, keeping NC aside", Manohar Lal told a local news agency Friday. While reacting to NC Additional General Secretary, Mustafa Kamaal's statement that alliance with Congress was a compulsion, Lal said, "If NC thinks it is a compulsion to remain with Congress, why it (NC) is not going away and taking its own road. Mustafa Kamaal is a senior leader of his party and he should not issue irresponsible statements". Speaking about the pre poll 2014 alliance with NC, he said that it is the Congress high command which will take the decision. He said that the issue of unemployment could be redressed through development of tourism and power projects in the State. Admitting corruption in the Cooperatives, Lal said, "We have taken strict action in past against those found involved in corruption and I warn those who indulge in such practices". Lal said that the State of Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed political turmoil in last 20 years. He said that NC-Congress lead coalition has initiated various historical steps for the welfare of people at large in the State. |
