| 2 persons rescued on Mughal Road | | | early times report Srinagar, Dec 14: Timely action of security forces saved two lives who were stranded on the Mughal road after heavy snowfall in the area. Muhammad Khalid and Abdul Haq of district Rajouri were stranded on the Mughal road near Peer-Ki- Gali along with their 30 animals after a heavy snowfall in the area. Having no means of communication in the area, the duo remained stranded near Peer-Ki -Gali for about 12 hours during that period out of 30, 25 animals were dead on the spot due to harsh cold in the area and the condition of both was in danger. The duo though suffered loss of lakhs of rupees after the death of animals, however the appropriate efforts of 44 RR and District administration Shopian managed to reach to the spot on time and rescue the duo along with five animals. Later both the animal dealers were shifted to the nearby 44 RR army camp in the area for immediate treatment. Meanwhile the season's first heavy snowfall added worries to the people living in the upper reaches of District Kulgam and shopian. According to the reports more than two feet of snow was recorded in Mughal road and Aharbal areas of south Kashmir. People living in these areas reported no electricity and water supply from last twelve hours, while as traffic was off the roads due to slippery conditions. |
