KISHTWAR, Dec 19: Battle lines have been drawn between district administration and CAPD over distribution of kerosene in district Kishtwar as 1. 70 lakh liters of poor man's fuel is being black marketed with impunity every month across the district.
The differences between the official functionaries emerged when following complaints of black marketing of the fuel to vehicles and commercial establishments at the cost of the legitimate beneficiaries, the district administration stepped up supervisory control over the distribution of kerosene.
As per the details available with "Early Times" 1.70 lakh liters of Kerosene Oil is supplied to district Kishtwar by the Government every month, but despite such a huge supply of Kerosene Oil to district Kishtwar having population of nearly 2.30 lakhs, there is acute shortage of fuel even though more than 80 % area of district Kishtwar is without road connectivity having population of more than one lakh and thus the possibility of supply of Kerosene oil to these areas is negated.
The sources revealed to "Early Times" that majority of the Kerosene Oil did not reach Kishtwar and the same was sold to black marketers in Jammu and only a small part of quota is actually distributed among the needy people.
The insiders said that after District administration directed to CAPD officials at Kishtwar to line up all the oil tankers arriving at Kishtwar for physical verification as well as for distribution, the officials of CAPD got annoyed and were approaching senior officers to take up the matter with the District administration Kishtwar to keep off the functioning of CAPD.
It has been reliably learnt that District Administration Kishtwar has warned senior officials of CAPD that District Administration Kishtwar is well within ambits of its powers to monitor the distribution of Kerosene oil and have nominated Tehsildar Kishtwar and concerned Naib Tehsildars as designated officers to check the inflow and distribution of Kerosene Oil in district Kishtwar.
