| Nirmal Singh opposes dis-engagement of SPOs, VDCs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 5: BJP National Executive Member & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh has said disengagement of SPOs and VDCs on flimsy grounds should be stopped forthwith and those who have been ousted should be re-instated. Addressing media here today at BJP headquarter, Dr Singh said, "Their period of service should be regularized, remuneration should be enhanced from Rs 3000 to Rs 6000, unpaid VDCs should be converted into paid VDCs. Service conditions should be decided, able bodied persons should be absorbed into police and those who have rendered so many years of service in VDCs and have grown old should be provided with some means of livelihood." He further said that the Central Government should introduce a bill in the Parliament to convert these VDCs/ SPOs into proper Security Force. Accompanied by BJP VDC Cell State Convener, Gajey Singh Rana, Dr. Singh condemned the recent order of SP Doda, in which he has directed VDC members of Kulhand to deposit weapons and threatened of action in case of non compliance. Expressing anguish over the fact he said that the state government is planning to provide Z security to Hurriyat leaders, who are pro-terrorists and recently met internationally proclaimed terrorist Hafiz Sayeed and others and committed a crime for which they deserve legal action. |
