Taj seeks time to respond to privilege motion
2/5/2013 11:28:11 PM

Bashir Assad
Jammu, Feb 5: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohiuddin today sought more time from Chairman Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra to submit his statement/defence on the Privilege Motion moved by PDP, MLC, Murtaza Khan and Panthers Party MLC, Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah against him over his controversial remarks against the Council Chairman.
Pertinently Taj had allegedly used "indecent and unparliamentarily language against the chairman'. Subsequently Khan and Shah had brought privilege motion against Taj for using "contemptuous remarks" against the LC Chairman Amrit Malhotra.
It merits a mention here that Taj was supposed to submit his statement on motion by or before February 5. However, the Minister failed to submit the same to the Chairman Council on due date.
Owing to his failure to submit the statement before the deadline, Taj today sought extension of time period by 10 more days citing the recent reshuffle and expansion of Cabinet as the reason for not being able to submit the statement in his defence.
