| CITU prepares for general strike on Feb 20, 21 | | | early times report Jammu, Feb 5: A joint meeting of different Central Indian Trade Unions -- INTUC, AITUC, CITU and other independent all India Federations like Insurance and Banking Sectors held at INTUC Office Jammu to discuss final arrangements for State Level Convention to be held at Press Club Jammu on 7th February, 2013 for reviewing preparatory campaign to ensure two days historic all India General Strike success on the call of 11 all Central Trade Unions and Federations on 20th & 21st February, 2013. The meeting was presided over by Thakur Raghubir Singh chib, General Secretary of INTUC. The call for countrywide two days general Strike is to press for the Ten Point Charter of demands- Curb Price Rise & Universalisation of Public Distribution System, Job Protection, Enforcement of labour laws, Social Security for Unorga-nised Workers, stoppage of Disin-vestment in PSUs, Minimum Wages, Pension for all, Equal Wages and Benefits to the Contract Workers, Ensuring the Right to Organisation and Collective Bargaining, Removal of Ceiling of Bonus, ESI, Gratuity, Compulsory Registration of Trade unions within a period of 45 days and ratification of ILO Convention No.87 and 98 etc. All the representatives expressed serious concern over these most burning problems facing crores of the working people in the country and state as well. The meeting was attended by Sham Prasad Kesar, Om Parkash (CITU) Dev Raj Bhatti (AITUC) Pawan Kumar Gupta (Insurance Sector) Ashwani Pradan and Anil Vaid (banking Sector) and Kuldip Kumar (INTUC).
