Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 19: Annoyed over long curtailment of power at Jagti township, the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) Jagti Nagrota has threatened the launch an agitation, if curtailment would not be minimized soon.
According to a press release, a meeting of JTC was held under the chairmanship of its president Shadi Lal Pandita, in which they discussed issue of power curtailment.
The members observed that most of the migrant families were facing economic stress and were unable to make even both ends meet. "Many are unable to afford the purchase a LPG cylinder. How under these conditions the poor migrant families be able to bear the electric tarrif" they questioned.
They further observed that during the past 22 years, the Camp Commanders at various camps and so also at the Jagti Migrant camp last year had issued certificates in favour of the migrant families, certifying that the electric tarrif of the families have been paid by the Relief organization, making it clear that the electric tarrif was borne by the government and the funds provided by the central government. "Thus this is an issue between the Electric Department (PDD) and the relief organization to settle this issue. Horrible is the position that the PDD has been causing 18 hour power cut at this camp to harass the inmates and compel to undergo the agreement" they said.
SL Pandita, BL Raina said that the power cut should be minimised immediately, otherwise they would launch agitation. Raj Nath Raina, BL Dhar, ML Akhnoon, Rajinder Dhar, VK Bhan, Shubun Ji Raina, Vijay Pandita, also spoke on the occasion.
