| PCCF's 'jungle mein mangal' hampers work in FD | | | Majid Ahmad JAMMU, Feb 19: The working in Forest department has come to a virtual halt due to alleged inefficiency of Principal Chief Conservator Forests (PCCF) Vinod Ranjan, sources told Early Times. They said allotment to different divisions is delayed bringing work to a halt. "Ranjan wastes most of the time in useless queries and money is allotted to selected DFOs after they pay kickbacks to the PCCF. The disposal of files in the PCCF office is so weak that at times a single letter takes weeks to move from one table to another," they alleged. A senior official of the Forest Deptt wishing anonymity said that working in the department has been crippled in the last one year since Ranjan took over. "He doesn't have knowledge of ground as he has never worked as DFO or Conservator. Since last one year no meeting of working plan has taken place which has put a question mark on the efficiency of the PCCF," he said. The official alleged that corruption in the PCCF office is at its zenith. "More than 100 foresters were forced to pay money for regularization before their case was forwarded to the secretariat by the PCC office a few months ago. Most of the Foresters had to pay Rs 30000 to Rs 40000 to get into the list," he alleged. "The PCCF raises useless queries in genuine files while the cases where his personal interests are taken care off move fast. This has marred the working culture in the Forest." A delegation of Forest employees appealed Forest Minister Mian Altaf Ahmad to take a decision to move the PCCF. "There is no doubt that Forest Minister is most honest. But due to the wrongdoings of the PCCF whole department is suffering. It is high time that Mian Altaf should take a decision and transfer Ranjan," they demanded. Sources said most of the projects in the Forest Department have been closed or are on the verge of closure due to the wrong policies of the PCCF. "He is only bothered to save his chair instead of doing work on ground. Only a few officers who are in good books of the PCCF are making merry in the Forest while people are suffering immensely due to his wrong policies," they added. |
