Power blackouts add to people's misery in Channi Himmat
8/3/2013 11:30:31 PM
Jammu, Aug 3: People of Channi Himmat area today held protest demonstration against Power Development Department for their failure to restore power supply in sector-III here today.
Raising slogans residents of sector-III assembled on road and alleged that during this hot and humid period, the PDD has failed to provide electricity to them in this particular pocket of the area.
Protesters alleged that for the last four days, the power supply has been affected reasons best known to concerned department but the people were left living in miserably drenched in sweat and sometimes without water supply which also got affected due to lack of power supply. Finding no solution to their plight even after repeated pleas the locals were forced to come on road.
They further alleged that even the matter was brought to the notice of the senior officers of the PDD, still their grievance was ignored.
"My father is allergic to hot and humid climate and and require protection from heat but the erratic power supply further added his woes, courtesy to PDD", a resident said.
They further said that we the residents of Channi Himmat paid the rent on time but PDD still have forced us to live in darkness.
When contacted to the concerned Junior Engineer (JE) PDD said that due to over loading, the transformer of the area got damaged. It took four days to manage new transformer and install the same and I hope that from Sunday the things will be streamlined.
