| Seniors marginalized, blue eyed juniors elevated to plum posts | | JU promoting favouritism | | Akshay Azad Jammu, Aug 3: Promoting favoritism, authorities in Jammu University have recently made a junior blue eyed as in-charge Director Information Technology, bypassing three senior deserving officers. Sources informed Early Times that Guneet Singh, Assistant Director Library, former Registrar of Jammu University ON Sudan, has been made as in-charge director Information Technology recently. "The post of in-charge director IT is only given to a Professor but for the first time in the history of Jammu University, a junior level officer has been made in-charge IT", sources said, adding that Guneet Singh has only experience of five years of service, but there were several other officials, who were very senior to Guneet, but were marginalized by JU authorities. These three senior officials, sources said, include Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, Professor Vivakar Mansotra. "Vivakar Mansotra has vast experience of around 20-22 years. For the last many years the post of in-charge Director IT has been only given to HOD of Computer Sciences but this time the system has been changed only to benefit favorite few ", sources claimed. Presently in Kashmir University, sources said, HOD of Computer Sciences SM Chakadri has been holding the charge of director IT. Moreover, Reader Suresh Rao has also experience of around 18 years and is PHD, but has been ignored, sources said, adding that Information Technology department's head of Library, Vikram Sahi who has experience of around 15 years is also sidelined in the whole process. They further informed that three other officials who were eligible for the post and have vast experience but were not given charge as they had no influence as others have managed. Sources further divulged that instead of streamlining the system, the authorities have been continuing with the old practice of promoting/giving various benefits to blue-eyed while jeopardizing the possibilities of deserving persons. |
