| Cong likely to show NC door, Kamaal annoys all | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 3: Congress is gearing up to snap ties with National Conference. State unit leaders are moving to Delhi shortly to hold discussion with the party high command. The party high command, which is already in the knowledge about discomfort of the party, is likely to issue directions on taking final and pulling down the Government. "We had apprised the party high command about growing irresponsible statements of the NC leaders aimed at defaming party. Leaders can't issue such statements without the consent of NC president Omar Abdullah. This can't be taken any more and it's time to call off the relation," said a senior leader wishing not to be identified. There has been grown chasm between the two coalition partners. It has started going from bad to worse especially after the hanging of Afzal Guru. When NC speaker allowed independent MLA Engineer Rashid to disrupt the most part of the budget session over Afzal, situation deteriorated further. The important point came when chief minister Omar Abdullah was not given any acknowledgment during the visit of Prime Minister and he was also officially virtually sidelined, a clear indication about the thinking of the party high command as party president Sonia Gandhi was also present in those functions. "Mustafa Kamaal is calling all sort of names to the Congress. Can you assume or think he can do so without the knowledge and consent of either Dr Farooq Abdullah or Omar Abdullah? And it's corroborated by the fact that even till now these two party patriarchs have not even distanced themselves from the statements of Kamaal," said the party leader. Cong is hoping to make a major turn over in the coming elections and there is thinking in the party that it can emerge as a single largest party and will need minimum support to form Government on its own. Party leadership is of the view that NC is on very sticky wickets and after conceding defeat from the PDP in Kashmir, it's deliberately attacking Cong to retain its fleeting hold, as Cong is also making inroads in the Kashmir. "NC knows for sure that it can't form Government on its own. Already cornered by PDP in Kashmir it's now hitting at Cong but this can't be tolerated as we are coalition partners and also because we are ascending in Kashmir and Cong high command knows its," said Cong minister, wishing not to be named.' |
