Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 3: Renowned theatre director Mushtaq Kak has been awarded the prestigious Habib Tanveer Rang Puraskar 2013 by Ras Kala Manch, for outstanding contribution in the field of theatre and for promoting folk theatre of Jammu and Kashmir all over the country. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of theatre in the country and Mushtaq Kak is the first recipient of this award from J&K State. The Award was presented by Shakuntala Rajaliwala, the Mayor of Hisar in a colourful ceremony. Chander Sharma, Vice-Chairman and Vishav Deepak Trikha, Deputy Director cum in-charge, Multi art cultural centre, Kurukshetra were among the dignitaries who attended the award function and applauded Mushtaq Kak for his efforts of motivating youngsters into the field of theatre. On this occasion Mushtaq's production, Dario Fo's "An Accidental Death of an Anarchist", was presented as a mark to inaugurate "Chalo Theatre-2013" the 4th National Theatre Festival, the biggest theatre festival in Haryana. A veteran theatre director with roots in J&K State, Mushtaq Kak has created a niche for himself on national and international theatre scene. During the period of 9 years when he was the artistic cirector of Shri Ram Centre for Performing arts, the plays directed by him won numerous awards at the national level. He has produced, designed and directed nearly 100 plays in different languages i.e. Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, English, Dogri and Kashmiri which have been staged in State, Zonal, National and International level Theatre Festivals. These include direction of dramatized version of Sadat Hassan Manto's 37 Urdu stories for Urdu Drama Festival under titles 'Manto-ba-Qalam Khud', 'Main Manto Hoon' and 'Siyaah Haashiye'. He has also dramatised and directed Krishan Chander's two novels namely 'Ek Gadhe ki Sarguzhasht' and 'Ek Gadhe ki Waapsi' for Shri Ram Centre Repertory, New Delhi. |
