8/4/2013 12:18:51 AM

Saahil Suhail

Anantnag, Aug 3: Seeking decisive mandate from people of the state in upcoming assembly polls, Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that competent leadership of his party has capability to change destiny of common masses by implementing revolutionary policies and programmes. He also reiterated his call for early resolution for Kashmir as Kashmir has suffered enough during turmoil. Seeking decisive mandate from people of the state, PDP Patron, Mufti Sayeed said that democracy a game of numbers if the people continued to support them (PDP) they will certainly strive further to bring peace and prosperity in the state.
Addressing an impressive gathering in Sports Stadium Anantnag during an occasion organized to mark 14th foundation day celebrations, Mufti said that successive regimes of National Conference (NC) have failed to resolve the issue besides they got the mandate of people of the state which is needed for its settlement. "We (PDP) have a vision and a road map for the resolution of Kashmir issue, so what NC can't do in past 67 years, if the people of the state give us a decisive mandate in upcoming polls we can resolve it within years and turn the state into a peace zone.
" Mufti said while addressing the gathering.
Recalling from the past, he accredited the party for restoring faith of democracy among people and said that during PDP-Cong coalition regime they took steps which paved a way for the resolution of issue. "It was result of our (PDP) convictions that successive governments at New Delhi had supported whenever steps we had taken during our tenure," Mufti said and further said that his party has pioneered a political and economic agenda to establish sustainable peace in the subcontinent and to fulfill wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the State.
He also recalled it was then when the people in Srinagar welcomed the then Prime Minister Atal Biharie Vajpayee, who flagged off Srinagar-Muzafferabad Bus Service as a major Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to break thaw between the Indo-Pak relations. He said even the UPA government in their tenure held round table conferences and people felt a change. Mufti said after completion of three years, UPA suggested for rotation of powers which was accepted, however rotation later created a vacuum of deficit among people.
"When I took as Chief Minister, people of the state were not demanding employment, development or any another benefit from us but they want to get rid from the daily atrocities of security forces, he said and added, "to restore faith of people we got infamous act POTA revoked, released political detainees on priority bases and further provided a transparent government and administration to the people of the state."
PDP Chief patron Mufit Mohammad Sayeed was accompanied by party senior leaders including MLA Bijbehara, Abdual Rehman Veeri, MLA Homeshalibugh Sofi Abdul Gaffar, MLA Phlagam, Mohd Rafi Mir, National spokesman Dr Sammer Koul and other leaders who addressed the gathering.
