Sahyog Committee gears up for volleyball tourney
Men's winner team to get Rs 11,000 prize

JAMMU, Aug 3 : Organising sports events to promote brotherhood and National integration, the Sahyog Committee, likewise last year, has finalized all the necessary arrangements for the conduct of a volleyball tournament on the occasion of Independence Day at Sports Stadium, Bari Brahamana, near here. "To be held on knock-out basis, 16 top teams shall take part in this competition being organised on the National festival of Independence Day," speaking to the media, secretary of the Sahyog Committee, Rakesh Singh informed. Introduced for the first time, the event will also witness competition in women's section this time. Winners and runners-up in both the categories will be awarded handsome cash prizes by the organizers. "We have also invited women's teams this time to add more colours to the competition. The winner of the men's title shall be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 11,000 while the runners-up team shall be presented Rs 8100 prize money.
Similarly, the women's champion shall get Rs 3100 and runners-up Rs 2100," disclosed president of the Committee, Dharam Paul. Meanwhile, those interested teams can still submit their entries with the organizers up to August 12. Prominent among others present were Tarsem Singh Sambal, Gulam Hazrat Ali (organiser), Uttam Sharma, Shashi Sharma, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Rash Paul and Karam Paul.
