| Court acquits 3 accused in NDPS case | | | Jammu, Aug 6 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Kartar Singh has acquitted Zahoor Ahmed, Ashok Kumar and Subash Singh from whom nine kgs of charas was allegedly recovered. According to the police on 24 November 2007, a police party of Police Station Nowabad Jammu intercepted a Sumo (JK03A-4681) and during search of the accused Zahoor Ahmad one bag charas weighing 4 kgs was recovered, whereas charas weighing 5 kgs was recovered from the bag of another accused Imtiaz Ahmad Dar which he had kept in between his legs. The Court after hearing both the sides held that the accused were going to be acquitted because of the defective investigation conducted by the police whether intentionally or lack of knowledge but it is reprehensible. "The investigation has been conducted in cursory manner and thereafter the Investigating officer did not appear in the court to explain his conduct. The investigation has been conducted in such a manner so as to introduce different stories about the recovery and seizure of charas with obvious purpose of helping the accused. There is not even an iota of incriminating evidence against the accused. They are, therefore, acquitted of the charge framed against them," the judge ordered.
