Et Report

Srinagar, Aug 6: Expressing his deep concern over the incidents of stone pelting during night and intimidation of the local Muslim population in Chenab Valley Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said the miscreants involved in such incidents are known, and "there is no doubt that members of Village Defence Committees are behind such incidents."
Geelani while demanding dissolution of these Committees appealed people of Jammu province to demonstrate and protest on Eid ul Fitr prayers against the highhandedness of members of these committees.
Blaming VDC members for their mischievous behaviour Geelani said they are terrorizing the local Muslims and have created turmoil like situation in Chenab valley. "Since these committees are directly under the influence of Sangh forces, their main aim is to compel local Muslims to vacate and make it an area free from Muslim community."
Syed Ali Geelani while commenting over the role played by local administration said that several officers appointed to key positions are affiliated to sectarian ideology, so do not listen the Muslims or redress their grievances.
"Instead of providing any relief to affected Muslim community, they feel satisfaction and joy by extending every possible support to these sectarian elements." The Hurriyat Chairman said there is no denying the fact that some section are hell-bent to isolate the Chenab valley, Poonch and Rajouri from their brethren in Valley, however, "now, no more distances exist between Chenab and Kashmir valley." "People in Valley share equal pain. We stand with them and understand the agonies they face," he added. Syed Ali Shah Geelani in his appeal to Muslim community of Jammu province stressed to demonstrate and protest after Eid prayers against the excesses perpetrated by communal elements. "They should also put pressure on administration for immediate dissolution and disarmament of VDCs and take action against those members involved in stone pelting, murder, rape and extortion." Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani while praying for those killed this year including Mohammad Afzal Guru said we should take care of their families and remember the services rendered by these martyrs while celebrating the Eid.
