| JK House; Just for VVIPs, closed for commoners | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 6: Supposed to be facilitation center for state subjects, officers manning the Jammu and Kashmir House in New Delhi have turned it into a 'private guest house of VVIPs' and other state guests. It is heard more than often that commoners are housed in C-grade accommodation and charged, according to sweet will of the front desk manager and the concerned Additional Resident Commissioner (ARC). Those in B-grade accommodation have to grease palm of the front desk manager of the guest house to stay comfortably. Not only this, state subjects approaching the front desk manager of the guest house are straightaway refused to be let in on the pretext of non-availability of the rooms. And if the state subject happens to know someone among the VVIPs, the same front desk manager within seconds not only makes the room available but even escorts you. More worrying are spine chilling revelations of most of the state guests especially government officials and ministers refusing to pay for boarding and lodging. Sources said that room rent especially for unauthorised is always collected in cash with no receipts issued. They added that the collection is supervised by CBI-chargesheeted and GAD-prosecution sanctioned official. Sources further said that a particular cook ism paid Rs. 5000 every time a VVIP visits New Delhi even for a day. Electricity and phone bills of a particular VVIP are paid by the officials of the JK House without allowing the concerned to know about the same, added sources. Further, sources said that present ARC first managed to get Deepika Sharma; the Additional Secretary branded as trouble-maker since she had raised some RTI queries. He managed to get her removed and posted as Deputy Labour Commissioner Delhi. Next, was Natasha Singh, Undersecretary who was attached to GAD for the reasons best known to the ARC and officials at the top, added the sources. Again it doesn't matter if no enquiry is able to substantiate any of these really wild and outrageous charges. The last to leave JK House within shortest period of time was Suraiya Jabeen, the Deputy Secretary who was sent back just after three months of her posting to Delhi. It is not known what led to her ouster but sources assert that senior officer hardly makes any difference in the JK House. It is only some officers who do all the work in Jammu and Kashmir House. |
