| Sherpur locals protest against indifference of flood & irrigation deptt | | |
Kathua, Aug 6: Expressing concerns over water logging in Sherpur at old Samba Road near Sahar Khud, the locals staged a protest alleging district authorities and flood control department are in deep slumber while locals are facing the threat of being swept away by floods. Led by Sarpanch Badal Yash Paul Raina and Janak Bharti protestors slammed the concerned department for forcing the village Sherpur to be marooned in water of Sahar khud and to erode thousands of kanals of agriculture land. They alleged Sahar Khud was diverted towards village to give benefit to property dealers who illegally have sold the land falling besides Khud and diversion of water has added miseries to the poor locals. Protestors have demanded Probe to be conducted against those who illegally have encroached Khud and putting thousands of lives of the area to threat. |
