| Police to win public confidence: DIG | | | ET Report basohli, Aug 6: Exhorting police to win public confidence, the Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu Kathua Range today underlined that winning of public confidence will go a long way in order to bridge the gap between Police and Public. In a largely attended police public meet held today at Basohli, DIG Jammu advised police personnel to win the confidence of public by virtue of good behavior and refrain from such acts that would defame the credibility and dignity of the police department. DIG said a special training programme is being organized in DPL Jammu especially for the Munshies of all the Police Stations of Jammu range to improve their communication skills. Regarding rumours of child lifters and gangs of thieves allegedly operating in Jammu areas, DIG advised the public that they should not pay any heed to such rumours as all such rumours have been found baseless and in case they find any persons under suspicious circumstances they must immediately contact nearest Police Station or PCR concerned so that immediate action is taken. Speaking on the occasion DIG Jammu also said that complainants and the law abiding citizens should be treated with highest degree of respect which can have a profound impact on their confidence in police as police cannot succeed without the backing of the society. A large number of respectable citizens including MLA Basohli Jagdish Raj Sapolia, besides number of police personnel including Mohd Rafiq Manhas SDPO Basohli also have attended the meet. Thereafter DIG Jammu also paid surprise visit of Police Station Bilawar, Police Posts Ramkote and Manwal and took stock of the working of these Police Station/Police Posts. |
