Sports Reporter JAMMU, Aug 6: In order to promote mountaineering in general and bouldering (climbing on natural boulders) in particular at Ladakh, the land which has produced excellent mountaineers, including Everesters, the Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee has decided to hold a three-day training-cum-competition at Shey (10 kilometers from Leh) from September five to September seven. This was disclosed by secretary of the North Zone Committee, Ram Khajuria, here today. He said, “On the first two days, about 40 local children shall be trained in bouldering by national and international climbers while the final day shall witness a competition among the trainees.” Fully sponsored by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), the prestigious event shall be held under the overall supervision of Chairman, Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, S Bhattacharjee. A national judge in Sport Climbing, Ram Khajuria has been entrusted with the task of organizing secretary of the event while Mitra Ghosh and Shawetica Khajuria, both qualified national judges, shall be the Judges. Meanwhile, a handout issued here today informed that the training in bouldering shall be imparted by an international climber, Sandeep Maiti from Delhi and Anil Kumar, a national climber from Jammu. |
