| Trio involved in cyber crime arrested; cloned credit cards, swipe machines seized | | Rs 1.57 Cr fraudulent transactions done, more arrests likely | | Et Report Jammu, Aug 6 : Nowabad police busted cyber crime racket and arrested three persons for running country wide racket. The trio was arrested after conducting raids in Srinagar and Bangalore. The gang was arrested when police acting on specific inputs lifted one Owais Yousaf Kaboo son of Mohammed Yousuf Kaboo of Nund Rishi Colony, Bemina Srinagar. He was trying to procure credit card swipe machines from Jewel Chowk area in Jammu city with the intention to swipe forged credit cards through these machines, thereby cheating the owners of the original credit cards. During questioning, Owais revealed the names of the other gang members as well as their Modus Operandi. SSP Jammu Atul Kumar Goel, giving information said that based on the information provided by the Owais, different police teams led by Owais Rashid Lone, DySP Probationer, SHO Nowabad Jaipal Sharma and ASI Bashir Ahmed were constituted and accordingly several raids were conducted in Srinagar and one of his accomplices namely Shabbir Ahmed Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir of Firozabagh, Srinagar was arrested. Police also seized four credit card swipe machines, which had been earlier used in such fraudulent transactions , SSP said, adding, the associated bank accounts were frozen and their details obtained. During investigation it has come to light that around 1.57 Crores fraudulent transactions were done from the establishments including Monte Carlo, Srinagar, SB Mobicare, Srinagar, Amar Art,S rinagar, Royal Amin Tours and Travel, Srinagar, Tiger Computers, Sinagar, Asian Art, Bhopal, Nikka Art, Nikkat Traders and Nikka Jewellers. Further on revelations of the duo arrested, a police party led by Shabir Khan,DySP Prob ationer,was dispatched to the Banglore where they arrested one Saud Pasha and recovered several forged credit cards from his possession SSP said that future course of the investigation will involve analyzing documentary evidence and IT forensic involved in the committing these crimes. The help of the financial institutions affected by the crime and other experts will be used in further investigation. The case is being investigated by the SIT supervised by SP North Jatinder Singh Johar. More arrests in the case are likely, SSP added. |
