SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Following the news reports in media that exposed valley doctors receiving freebies from pharma companies Government on Friday ordered a probe into the nasty nexus between doctors and medical agencies within a stipulated time of 3 days. Sources said that Government has constituted a 3-member team to inquire the allegations leveled against some doctors involved in getting freebies from a leading medicine company Micro-Labs Bangalore for prescribing their medicine. The 3-member team comprises of HOD Medicine Dr. Saima Bhat, Medical Superintendent (SMHS), Nazir Ahmad Chowdary and Registrar Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr. Wasim Khalid. "The enquiry officer has been asked to submit the report within three days' time," the sources said adding that in the initial phase renowned Gastroenterologist and a consultant Medicine at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, Dr. Abdul Majid Wani has been attached to the office of the Principal GMC College. Sources said there is a specific media report about Dr. Abdul Majid Wani having received freebies from Micro-Labs, Bangalore and "detailed departmental enquiry into the issue was initiated."
