| Cong MP Madan calls on Antony, raises border concerns | | | AGENCIES
New Delhi, Aug 23 : Lok Sabha Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency Madan Lal Sharma today called on Union Defence Minister in his office and apprised him of the situation having arisen due to continuous cease fire violations both on IB & LoC in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu and Samba. During his meeting with Union Defence Minister, Congress MP informed Antony about the fear and panic among civil population due to firing and shelling and maintained that Pakistani Army is providing cover to the militants making efforts across the border to infiltrate. He however assured support of Civil population in thwarting all such designs. He however, anticipated large scale migration from borders if the steps were not taken. Sharma also showed his concerns on the safety, security and sustenance of the people living in forward areas and demanded enhanced compensation to the people who suffered losses due to firing and shelling. Conveying dismay about Pakistani Army targeting civil areas, Congress MP demanded pacca bunkers for civil population and insurance cover with regard to life, crop, cattle and property. He also requested him to support State Govt. in creating the bandhs and other infrastructure which has been washed away in recent rains and flash floods. He also demanded the repair/patch work of all defence roads of his constituency damaged due to heavy rains and flash floods. Sharma also demanded that a high level central delegation should visit LoC, IB to boost the morale of civilians and Armed forces and also to take stock of losses suffered due to cease fire violations and flash floods / rains. Union Defence Minister A K Antony paid keen attention to concerns of the border people raised by the MP in wake of the recent increasing tension on the borders and assured that GOI was committed to the safety and security of the people of the border areas and all possible help would be extended for the development of people of border areas of his constituency. |
