Kathua, Aug 23 : Vikas Manch Kathua held a meeting here today which was chaired by its president Prof Murti Sharma to take stock of recent developments. The members of the Manch expressed deep concern over the continuous decline of the market rate of Indian rupee and held the current economic policies and planning as the main cause behind it. They urged for immediate remedial approach in this context. A threadbare discussion was made over the recent clashes and violence posing a grave threat to the social harmony in Kishtwar and the members held the state government and local administration's failure to rise to the occasion responsible for the clashes. They demanded adequate safety and security to the minority community and pleaded for not disarming the VDC's. They also emphasized for a CBI probe instead of judicial inquiry. The members of the Manch sought the attention of the district administration for finding out the actual cause of having floods in Sahar Khad causing major loss to the valuable land and property in low level area of Badala, Sherpur and adjoining areas. Dr Kuldeep Mahotra was unanimously nominated to look after the reconstitution of executive body of the Manch before the General Body Meeting to be held in October - November this year. The meeting was attended by Pitamber Dutt Sharma, Dr Mahotra, Babu Ram Bhagat, Daya Nand, Om Parkash, Mulkh Raj, Thuru Ram Mahajan, Master Desh Raj, Bansi Lal, Master Mehar Singh and Mohinder Gupta. |
