Anantnag, Aug 26: Days after inaugural ceremony of the Bijbehara Degree College, the continuous absence of principal and staff members today forced college students to register their protest. Shouting slogans against the college authorities including teaching staff, students alleged that since the principal of the college was informed about the inaugural ceremony, academic section suffered as the lecturers refused to attend classes. The college today observed fifth consecutive holiday as most of the staffers failed to report for their duties. The seem tired by making arrangements for the ceremony, the students said. "On Thursday various officers including DC Anantnag visited our college and directed college authorities to paint the college building, Friday is now a holiday as the staff completely remains absent, on Saturday when college was being inaugurated only 60 students of particular political ideology were allowed and rest observed holiday. On Monday they told us that we are tired and refused to attend classes," Ishaf Ahmad, a 2nd year student told early times. Seeking attention of higher ups, students alleged that college has got dysfunctional after the inaugural ceremony as the college staff continues to remain absent. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmad Lone when contacted assured prompt action. The foundation stone of the college was laid by former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed and was shifted to this new building early this year. |
