| JU officials up ante against Convenor landscaping, seek removal | | | Mohammed Irfan
JAMMU, Aug 26: Tall claims of Jammu University officials of working efficiently vis-à-vis maintenance of campus are proving hollow since the campus continues to be in deplorable condition. Sources said that there are some officials in Jammu University who have been appointed and enjoy proximity with media yet prefer lip-service over working efficiently to clean university of the mess. If sources are to be believed, when convener landscaping JU was appointed, he promised to beautify and maintain campus but several months have passed since he took over this assignment, he has failed to do much.
Sources further maintain that Convener prefers remaining in touch with media to highlight his achievements but on grounds, things are moving at snail's pace. One can easily see that during the monsoon season, Parthlene and wild grass grows in and around the campus. One can see that JU campus is in shabby outlook.
Reliable sources said that official is Prof Yashpal Sharma. He is both Convener landscaping as well as Co-chairman Cultural Activities. Sources said that Prof. Yashpal enjoys close proximity with controller examinations and Private Secretary to VC. This proximity has earned him job of looking after examination duties.
Employees working in JU are up in arms against him as he does not listen to them. A sweeper wishing anonymity said "We do not like this Convenor. He has been working as a dictator. This is intolerable. He is first such Convenor in JU. The way he has been working has hampered beautification of campus." Authorities are acting as mute spectators to this grave scenario. There were about 7-8 winnowing machines in Jammu University (JU) for cutting purposes but they have all gone missing. Sources maintain that despite good number of holidays, grass cutting is still miles away. They added that way towards infamous Zorawar Singh auditorium of Jammu University (JU) is covered with huge parthlene and wild grass. Malis working under his supervision have expressed great resentment and are fed up with his working as they also hold massive protest demonstration demanding removing of this arrogant Convenor.
Adhocism has already marred functioning of JU. Prof. Yashpal is too having additional post with him due to which officials can't give ample time to their assignments. Sources is of the view that VC has to think for some alternate official in order to bring beautification of campus before it's too late. |
