| As dust begins to settle in Kishtwar, two communities start drawing closer | | No rhetoric, nor superficially....... | | ET Report Jammu, Aug 26: As dust begins to settle down completely in strife torn Kishtwar, political parties are still using rhetoric of peace for their own gains, the saner and wise people from the two communities Hindus and Muslims are privately engaged in some positive exercise - rebuilding bonds and restoring mutual trust which exists between for ages. As the anger is pacifying, the two communities which lived in peace and practiced for real the slogan of mutual co existence are picking up the loose and torn threads to weave them into strong bonds, notwithstanding few elements inimical to these steps of restoring proximity and affability. Two weeks on, the positive change is visible on ground when the members of two communities are drawing nearer, proving once again that their bonds are strong enough to withstand whirlwind like Kishtwar witnessed . Strong bonds of amity and harmony between the two communities have age old history , perhaps stronger than any other region or area in the state. And there are reasons why these would continue despite occasional politically triggered tornadoes . This mountainous district lived in tranquility despite presence of various religious and sub religious identities which shared all platforms together and gave space to each other. There are ample instances which narrate the tales of respect of two communities for each other's religion and religious places, many of these revered in same spirit by both the communities. As the members of the two communities are trying to smoothen the ties smothered by few rogue elements, they relive and revive the memories as to how their unity and identity of oneness through all tides fetched them rewards and positive results. The agitation for opening of a Degree college was staged together by the two communities and their joint struggle for district status to Kishtwar yielded them fruits . Even in times when militancy was at its peak, the two communities lived together in unity and provided protection and shelter to each other in times of need. This prevailed due to trust and faith , though separatists and militant groups tried to divide the communities in many ways. The ties and relations based on love, affection , trust and mutual respect remained un affected, which helped build stronger bonds. In the wake of this age old amity and history of dependence of the two communities in good and bad times, it is a foregone conclusion that despite so called polarized atmosphere and wedges having been drawn by political parties, Hindus and Muslims would not take much time in amalgamating and assimilating in the same socio- cultural scenario which existed before August 9. With initiatives at the individual and collective level, the gap that was forced by few elements would be bridged and hostilities, if at any level, would sure be overcome by the two communities
