| Madan meets Prime Minister on Borders, Refugees issues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT New Delhi, Aug 26 : Madan Lal Sharma Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency along with Kuldeep Raj Verma Vice Chairman OBC's met with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and apprised him about the situation on borders in view of cease fire violations and long pending issues of Refugees. Sharma apprised the PM about the fear and panic developed among the people residing on IB and LOC in Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch. He said that houses near to Border are under great threat and requested for taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety, Security and livelihood of Border People. He also demanded enhancement in compensation to the victims of border firing and shelling at par with the victims of militancy in J&K presently border victims are entitled for Rs.1 lakh and Militancy victim for Rs. 5 lakhs. Sharma strongly voiced to end this discrimination. He also demanded recruitment from border areas on priority basis with relaxation. He also requested to increase rent of the land under Army use and he rather suggested that Army should acquire that land and provide suitable compensation to the people. MP also strongly demanded the shifting of border fence to zero point. The duo also raised and demanded early settlement of all pending issues of Refugees of 1947, 65, 71 and west Pakistani. They demanded that owner ship rights should be given to all types of Refugees and Government should go for a one time settlement of refugees. Verma Vice Chairman OBC demanded liberal funding for the OBC in J&K on the pattern of STs and SCs. Member Parliament and Verma also sought the support for construction of OBC Hostels for children in all Districts of the State. Dr. Manmohan Singh Prime Minister gave a patient hearing to MP and V.C and assured them all possible support to address the issues raised by them. |
