Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 26: 'SAPTAK' president Kamal Sharma exhorted to save rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir especially Duggar region. Addressing the media persons, Sharma said that 'SAPTAK' was an endeavor to promote classical, light and folk music, was invaded by western culture and film music had overshadowed. Sharma elaborated that 'SAPTAK' should made efforts for reviving 'Bhaakh' 'Geetru' 'Kaarak' 'Baar' and other flok forms of region and it should bring out in lime light traditional folk instruments such as 'Kieng' 'Sarangi' 'Nagoza' 'Narsingha' 'Ghara-Thali' 'Dafla' 'Morchang' 'Haran' 'Fummani' and Nikku Kud the fading out dance forms, should made to vibrate the cultural scene of Jammu. "National festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day, and other important days the national and local heroes shall be commemorated. Diwali, Eid, Guruparb, Christmas and other festivals, shall be celebrated in a befitting manner, aiming adequate exposure to younger generation about our diversity and rich socio- cultural heritage", he said. He further said that the association should felicitate the legendary artists of region and worked for their welfare. At the same time "SAPTAK" should provide opportunities to senior as well as budding artist to perform on a common platform and discussed their problems.
