| Health Department's fake appointment scam | | Enquiry officer seeks 15 days to submit report | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The Health Minister has set yet another deadline for probing the fake recruitment in his department. A high level probe ordered by the Government into the fake recruitment scam in health department involving five top officials and close associates of many renowned politicians of Kashmir including a deputy director will be completed in next two weeks, was said by the Commissioner secretary, health, MK Divedi earlier. Besides Minister for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan assured a fair time bound probe and punishment to the erring officials. The concerned commissioner secretary also issued a similar statement. He even fixed two weeks to complete the probe. Giving an excuse for delay, he said: "unfortunately the additional secretary who was heading the inquiry team reached superannuation and could not conclude the probe. The new additional secretary has joined and will finish the probe in hardly two weeks." However it is now than fifteen months since the scam has surfaced. Nothing has come out of the probe. Talking to Early Times, the Minister said he needs more time to complete the probe as the enquiry officer has not submitted his report. At a time when Minister for health, Shabir Ahmad khan while talking to Early Times said he needs some more time to complete the probe as the inquiry officer has not submitted the report and added that Arif-ul-lah is solely responsible for delay in inquiry as he has been given the task some time ago. Responding to Minister's statement, Arif-ul-lah said that he does not know why everybody is after him these days and why he has been made a scape goat in this case. Pertinently director Health services Kashmir, Dr Saleem ur Rehman also said that inquiry report is on the table of Arif-ul-lah and nobody else can handle the case, besides his transfer from the post of special secretary to health to any other post has nothing to do this case because he is an independent probe in charge official of the case and he can work from anywhere and from any post of the department of health services Kashmir. "Now when everybody is after me in this case, kindly give me only fifteen more days to complete the inquiry once for all," he pleaded. He said that he is not deliberately delaying the case and neither is he under any sort of political pressure, but after he was transferred from the post of special secretary he was not sure whether he is in charge probe official or not. However now when both Minister concerned and director want him to proceed in the case he after a consultation with them both in person will handle this case again and finish the task in next fifteen days. Pertinently according to the credible sources of health department, investigation into the matter is almost complete as all the accused were charge sheeted earlier and they have responded to the charge sheets filed against them, but because of reasons better known to the inquiry official, the whole process has been halted any officials are using tactics every time to divert the attention of Media persons from the scam. Sources added that scam must be handed over to the state accountability commission and vigilance organization as besides causing loss of crores of rupees to the state exchequer in the form of salaries to the illegal appointees, the indicted officials have also withdrawn crores of rupees as arrears in the name of fake employees. |
