LMD books 14 traders, realizes Rs 10,500 fine 8/27/2013 11:56:55 PM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 27 :Department of Legal Metrology (LMD) today booked 14 traders under different provisions of weights & Measures Act & rules and realizes a fine of Rs 10,500 from the violators for using unverified/defective weighing Instruments for commercial transactions & selling pre-packed commodities without being marked with mandatory declarations. According to Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology (Consumer Protection), the drive was conducted in R.S.Pura, Dablet, Seoura & Bishnah areas to check the accuracy of weighing machines used by the traders while selling goods to the consumers.
