| LMD books 14 traders, realizes Rs 10,500 fine | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 27 :Department of Legal Metrology (LMD) today booked 14 traders under different provisions of weights & Measures Act & rules and realizes a fine of Rs 10,500 from the violators for using unverified/defective weighing Instruments for commercial transactions & selling pre-packed commodities without being marked with mandatory declarations. According to Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology (Consumer Protection), the drive was conducted in R.S.Pura, Dablet, Seoura & Bishnah areas to check the accuracy of weighing machines used by the traders while selling goods to the consumers. As per rules, it is mandatory for the traders to get all the weighing machines & weights re-verified from the department at the periodical interval so as to ensure the accuracy of weighing. |
