ET Report Kathua, Oct 12: The medical staff of sub-district hospital Hiranagar today suspended their work for two hours followed by a protest under the banner of J&K Medical Employees Federation. There was resentment amongst staff members that it has become routine as they have to be manhandled by the public. The medical employees were demanding strict action against culprits and arrangement of effective security system for the medical employees. Leading the protest, Block President of the Federation Sanjay Verma said, that during the night hours of Friday 3-4 boys came to hospital for the treatment of one of their friend who was vomiting. As all the boys were drunk, they started abusing Dr. Indira, Medical Assistant Raj Singh, Nurse Neelam Kumari and other staff members, without any reason. The protesters warned the government to face strike if the arrest of culprits is not made who misbehaved with the medical staff on the intervening night of Friday. Later, Tehsildar Manzoor Ahmed and SHO Ashwani Sharma reached the spot and assured the demonstrators for a strict action against the miscreants. After which the staff members retained their work. |
